Armando Alonzo
Armando holds a degree in Education, and spent 12 years as an elementary school teacher. In addition, Armando spent time at Arizona State University instructing teachers on the use of technology, and was also their FileMaker administrator and Webmaster. Armando’s hobbies are drawing and painting.
Armando remembers, “Christmas Eve at Aunt Mary and Uncle Tony’s house with all the cousins. We went to church at midnight and then returned to the house and Santa would come. The food was awesome!” By the way, Armando’s favorite holiday food is tamales.
Some other holiday favorites include the song Silent Night and the movies Elf , and Miracle on 34th Street.
Audrey Akhaven
Audrey is FileMaker Developer new to Waves in Motion. Audrey comes to us from Block Glass where she was an in-house FileMaker Developer. “I really love FileMaker and have been building database solutions with it since 1994…starting with version 2.0 on a Macintosh peer-to-peer network! I am a FileMaker Solutions Alliance member, an At-Large FMPug member and a FileMaker Pro 8 Certified Developer.
Dedicated to lifetime learning, Audrey has earned an invaluable and rewarding education while operating in a variety of diverse industries. In addition, Audrey can read, speak and write a little Farsi (Persian) and is currently learning Spanish.
In her free time Audrey enjoys cooking, entertaining family and friends, reading, antique and bargain shopping with her sisters and completing home-improvement projects.
What’s Audrey’s favorite holiday memory? “Every year at my house, my entire family (four generations) gathers to celebrate the season and do our “X-Mas White Elephant Gift Exchange.” It’s the one day of the year we are all in the same place at the same time… and it’s the most fun we have together as a family. Each year’s event becomes my new fondest holiday memory.”
Other favorites include the song, I’ll be Home for Christmas, anything chocolate (and laced with alcohol) and the movie A Christmas Story.
Deb Bader
Deb holds a degree in Communications from Rowan University in New Jersey and has worked for Citibank, American Express and Wells Fargo Bank. Deb likes to read and recently has been devouring books by Dan Brown.
One Christmas Deb recalls, “As kids my sister and I had asked for 10-speed bikes with what were known as ‘ram’s handles.’ (Am I dating myself?). My brother, who was about eight at the time, had awakened early Christmas morning to check out what Santa had left. He came charging into the bedroom my sister and I shared and shouted, ‘Santa brought you moose handle bikes!’ Needless to say ‘moose handles’ became a family legend.”
A favorite holiday movie is A Christmas Story (You’ll shoot your eye out!) A favorite holiday song? I want a Hippopotamus for Christmas.
Andy Costello
Our Director of Graphic Arts (and anything else we can think of, as he has many “great skills”), Andy is our official geek in residence – and that’s saying something in a technical environment! “Psycho Andy” (really, look it up on Google) enjoys reading comic books and professional wrestling. He studies Graphic Arts at Scottsdale Community College, and is highly anticipating the upcoming thriller, Snakes on a Plane.
Andy’s favorite holiday song is The Night Santa Went Crazy, by “Weird Al” Yankovic. What’s his favorite holiday movie? According to Andy, “The Muppet Christmas Carol. Duh. What could be better than Michael Caine acting alongside Kermit the Frog and The Great Gonzo? ESPECIALLY on Christmas!”
Other favorites include stuffing and cranberry sauce.
Linda Costello
An eight-year veteran of Waves in Motion, Linda is Waves’ Director of HR and Finance. Originally from Stoughton, Massachusetts, Linda’s background includes degrees in Education, Finance and Business Administration, studies in psychology and a certification from the Gestalt Institute.
Linda recalls, “There were five of us kids, and all five of us would get up at o’dark thirty on Christmas morning and sing Christmas carols on the stairs to wake up the folks.”
While Linda doesn’t have a favorite holiday movie one of her family traditions includes going to a movie on Christmas Eve. “It’s almost like a private viewing!” she says. A favorite song is Deck the Halls with Boughs of Holly.
James D’cunha
James is a Software Engineer and is known as “Roy” to his friends. He holds a Masters Degree in Computer Science from Arizona State University and a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and Engineering from MIT Manipal. James enjoys reading spy/homicide thrillers.
Like many of us, one of James’ holiday memories involves food, “In India we have a tradition where 10 days prior to Christmas our family prepares Christmas sweets. Those sweets ROCK!!!!” Other holiday favorites include the movies Home Alone 1-2 and the song Silent Night.
Ron Greene
Brand new to Waves, Ron comes to us from Baltimore, MD where he was an independent FileMaker Developer for the past 12 years. Ron received his undergraduate degree in Vocal Performance from the University of Vermont and his JD from the American University – Washington College of Law. In addition to his talents developing FileMaker solutions, Ron is also a singer specializing in plainchant and Renaissance polyphony. In his free time he enjoys brewing his own beer (which now makes him everyone’s new best friend), cooking and fine cigars.
Ron recalls the following Norman Rockwell moment, “I remember one year, growing up in Vermont, we had no snow on the ground on December 24th, and everyone was bummed out because we wanted a white Christmas. It started to snow at around midnight, and by Christmas morning, there was nearly a foot of fresh powder in the yard.”
Holiday favorites include the There is No Rose (a 3-part medieval carol), Swiss fondue and the movie National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation.
Andrew Kohtz
Andrew is our systems administrator, responsible for our Unix servers, network infrastructure and brand new VOIP phones. Andrew is our “go-to” guy for all things technical.
Andrew remembers, “As a child I always made sure that I helped my mother bake the Christmas goodies every year. It meant that I got precedence over my brothers when it came time to lick the bowl.” That must explain why his favorite holiday food is Christmas cookies!
Some other holiday favorites include the song Hark the Herald Angels Sing and the movie Scrooged.
Marni Patterson
Another new addition to Waves, Marni Patterson is our Director of Business Development. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations from Syracuse University and an MBA in International Business from Touro University International. Her years of experience include time spent as a marketing and business development partner for an international consulting firm, and in product marketing and marketing roles for two software companies. Marni enjoys working out, photography, SCUBA, travel to other countries and computers.
Marni relates this holiday memory, “I began playing the clarinet when I was 9, but a year later my orthodontist said I had to quit because it would interfere with straightening my teeth. When I got my braces off during the fall of 8th grade, my parents asked the orthodontist whether I could play again and he said I could. So, my parents put a note inside my clarinet case that said ‘To Marni from Dr. Howe,’ wrapped the clarinet in Christmas wrap and put it under the tree with my other presents.”
Marni enjoys music by the Trans Siberian Orchestra. A favorite holiday treat is Buckeyes, a chocolate and peanut butter cookie.
Sanjay Purohit
Sanjay is a Senior Software Engineer whose’ nickname is “Manu.” He holds a Bachelor of Science from Arizona State University. Sanjay’s years of experience include time spent with J4 Systems, Delegata, Locus Technologies, Compuware, Digital Insight , Level One Comm (Intel) , AZ Dept of Education, and Intel. Sanjay enjoys table tennis, tennis, working out, travel to other countries, and hiking.
Marcus Silving
Marcus is our C.E.O. and an expert FileMaker developer. Marcus’ clients range from financial institutions, to educational institutions, to government contractors, to medical educators, to dental supply companies and pet product home delivery. His unique ability to understand complex situations and communicate them in an easy-to-understand manner is a strength, which is highly valued by his clients and the staff. It also explains his diverse client base!
Marcus is an avid collector of holiday music. His collection ranges from the Mormon Tabernacle Choir signing The Hallelujah Chorus to Bob and Doug Mackenzie’s version of the 12 Days of Christmas to Cheech and Chong’s Santa Claus and his Old Lady. It’s no wonder it is hard for him to pick a favorite! His favorite holiday food is a family recipe from Austria, Vanillekipferln (Vanilla Crescent Cookies).
